Dr. McPartland has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the academic industry
FRANKFORT, Ky., Dec. 10, 2018 — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Thomas J. McPartland with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. McPartland celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With 40 years of professional experience, Dr. McPartland is currently retired, having most recently served as a professor at Kentucky State University in Frankfort from 1996 to 2016. Prior to this appointment, he had previously held the role of associate professor from 1992 to 1996 and assistant professor since 1988 to 1992. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he was the director of the Whitney Young School of Honors and Liberal Studies from 2006 to 2016, where he was acting dean from 1993 to 1994. Prior to obtaining these positions, he was an assistant professor at Seattle University from 1987 to 1989, an instructor at Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington, from 1981 to 1987, and a lecturer at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1985. Earlier in his career, Dr. McPartland was a lecturer with Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, in 1977 and an acting assistant professor with the University of Washington from 1976 to 1979.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. McPartland pursued an education at the University of Santa Clara in Santa Clara, California, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies, earning a Master of Arts from the University of Washington in 1969. Dr. McPartland concluded his studies at the University of Washington with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1976.
A respected voice in his industry, Dr. McPartland has been an active leader in his community as well. He is a member of the American Political Science Association, the West Coast Methods Institute, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the Southern Regional Honors Council and the National Collegiate Honors Council. Writing extensively in his areas of expertise, Dr. McPartland has also presented at over 40 conferences and symposia.
Throughout his career, Dr. McPartland has been recognized for his contributions. He was notably named a Distinguished Professor by Kentucky State University from 2002 to 2003. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. McPartland has previously been featured in Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the West.
